Obree's Fast Bike

If you cast your mind back, a few of us went over to The Green Jersey bike shop in Clitheroe to meet the legend that is Graeme Obree. Whilst we were there he was telling us about his new project which was to build a bike that he could use to attempt the ‘Human Powered Land Speed Record’ sometime later this year over in Nevada, USA.

“Obree’s new machine is being assembled at his one-bedroom flat in Saltcoats, North Ayrshire, in the kitchen which doubles as his workshop. He has already scavenged parts for the machine’s shoulder rests from an old saucepan.”

He was telling us how far he’d come since starting the project and how he’d got his front wheel sorted and how he was working on some secret ideas for this frame. I’ve just seen this posted on The Telegraph‘s website which has a picture of what i can only guess is the frame design. Needless to say, it’s definitely got Obree’s style and thought behind it.

He’s planning on hitting 100mph, breaking the current record which is set at 82.2mph. We all wish him all the luck in the world. This guy is quite literally an inspiration! You can read a whole load more about this project or any of his other past/present projects on his website.
